Common Email Faults

The most common email fault is the account being over its disk quota. If you are using more than about 9MB of your 10MB limit the system will not be able to create the temporary files needed to open your inbox. You can check your disk usage by clicking on the disk usage icon in your control panel.

If you find you are close to your limit there are a number of solutions:

  1. Delete mail (including any saved sent items and click on the purge link if you are using our webmail system).
  2. Delete other files from your account. You can safely delete the /tmp folder using an FTP program as this only contains your web visitor statistics.
  3. If you currently use webmail, switch to using a POP3 email program like Outlook Express as this stores mail on your computer and does not rely on our 10MB limit.
  4. If you decide you want to store lots of mail on our server you can upgrade toa larger account size. Pleae go to your control panel and click on the web hosting icon.

Note: POP3 and webmail delivery is disabled by default on new accounts.
Before you can use either service you need to log into the control panel, click on ther POP3 email icon and follow the instructions to enable it.
